Born in Istanbul, Turkey on 5th of July, 1975. BSc in Chemistry from Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey (2000). PhD from University of Michigan for work with Richard A. Goldstein (2004). Postdoc with Sebastian Bonhoeffer at ETH, Zurich (2004 - 2006). Independent researcher at Microsoft Research - University of Trento Centre for Computational and Systems Biology (2006 - 2009). Lecturer/Senior Lecturer of Systems Biology at University of Exeter (2009 - 2013). Professor of Evolutionary Systems and Synthetic Biology at University of Warwick (2013 - ). Research area: Networks, evolution, and all in between. Off work: Keen sailor.

Hadrien Delattre, PDRA

Born in France in december 1990. BSc in Biochemistry in 2011 from the university of Nantes, MSc in Bioinformatics and Biostatistics in 2013 from the university of Paris XI (now Paris-Saclay). PhD in microbial thermodynamics from AgroParisTech in 2018, supervised by T. Bouchez.Research topic: Using modelling to discover generic principles behind microbial community structure and dynamics. Jing Chen, PDRA

Born in Chongqing, China in June, 1985. BEng in Bioengineering (2008) and MEng in Biochemical Engineering (2011) from Sichuan University, China. PhD in Environmental Microbiology from The University of Hong Kong (2016), supervised by Dr. Ji-Dong Gu on the topic of molecular detection of denitrifying anaerobic methane oxidation bacteria in coastal and ocean sediments. Joined OSS lab in February, 2016. Research area: Engineering synthetic microbial communities, quantitatively characterizing their dynamics and stability. Off work: Hiking, reading and cooking.

Christian Zerfass, PDRA

Born in Germany (Bad Kreuznach) in March 1988. BSc in Molecular Biology in February 2011 from the Johannes Gutenberg University (JGU) Mainz. Dr. rer. nat. in Biology at the JGU Mainz in August 2015 (Group of Professor Harald Paulsen, Research topic: Designed recombinant polypeptides for biomimetic silica-formation). Joined OSS Lab in September 2015. Research area: Self-sustained microbial community. Off work: Diving, literature.

Connah Johnson, PhD Student

Born in Blackburn, England in 1994. MPhys in Physics with Theoretical Physics (2017) from The University of Manchester, MSc in Mathematics of Systems (2018) from The University of Warwick, current PhD student in the Mathematics of Real World Systems Centre for Doctoral training (MathSys - CDT). Joined OSS Lab in September 2018. Research area: Simulating the evolution and dynamics of realistic chemical reaction networks. Off work: hiking, coding

Kelsey Cremin, PhD student

Born in Swindon, England in June 1996. BSc (Hons) in Analytical Chemistry and Forensic Science from Coventry University, completed May 2017. MSc to PhD student in the Molecular Analytical Science- Centre of Doctoral Training (MAS-CDT), based in the OSS Lab and the Warwick Electrochemistry and Interface Group, University of Warwick. Research interests: Scanning probe microscopy techniques for studying biological systems. Joined OSS Lab in May 2018. Off work: drawing, cooking.

Clare Hayes, PhD student

Born in Los Angeles, USA in 1986. BA in Biology from Harvard University in 2009. Research technician for Professor Richard Murray at California Institute of Technology (2012-2016). PhD student in the Synthetic Biology Centre for Doctoral Training and the University of Warwick (2016-2020). Joined OSS Lab in August 2017. Research area: Metabolic system dynamics. Off work: hiking, swimming.

Mary Coates, Project manager

PhD, Warwick HRI, The University of Warwick (2007). BSc (Hons) Biological Sciences, The University of Exeter (2001). Previously project facilitator for the BBSRC systems biology PRESTA project (2008-2014); Started at OSS lab on June 2013 as sLola Project Manager (30% FTE). Off-work: Spending time with family, crochet, reading, cocktails, snowboarding, enjoying the countyside.
